Maize Mill and Sunflower Oil Extraction Plant:
The project is intended to help the community to process maize and sunflower seeds both of which are produced by the community in plenty especially when the rain season is good.
Usually women travel over 10km in order to reach the nearest facility to process the crops. This may take the whole day. The commissioning of this project will be a relief to the villagers. At an affordable cost to the farmers the project would generate income to contribute to the upkeep of the children. Fund raising for the project is ongoing and we kindly ask for donations.
Last Year the Board of Trustees approved a project proposal to construct a Lodge adjacent to the Centre consisting of four huts each of four self contained bedrooms and a recreation hall.
The project is expected to make profit from mountain climbers of Mt. Kilimanjaro, tourists interested in local culture and children care, volunteers, mini-conferences and general visitors to Rombo District and Kilimanjaro Region.
The project cost is estimated at US $200,000. Although we are a long way from raising the required funds, construction started in June out of the donations already received in cash and materials.
We are looking to raise a further US $150,000. Please be part of this project by GIVING.
